Distinguished DLRL alumnus now Full Professor

One of the highly distinguished alumni from DLRL is now a Full Professor.

Marcos Andre Goncalves,  December 2021, joined the faculty of Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil, one of the best departments regarding information retrieval and digital libraries, after completing his Ph.D. in 2004 on "Streams, Structures, Spaces, Scenarios, and Societies (5S): A Formal Digital Library Framework and Its Applications", http://hdl.handle.net/10919/29942. As can be seen in Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=IStCGaoAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao) and from his webpage (http://somos.ufmg.br/professor/marcos-andre-goncalves), he has had a highly productive and illustrious career. CHCI Alumni Highlight — Seungwon Yang, PhD

Seungwon Yang, PhD, (Ed Fox, Advisor) has a joint position as an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science and the Center for Computation and Technology at Louisiana State University (LSU). His latest research focuses on detecting fake news that are spreading in social media during crisis events (NSF #1620451). He also applies text mining and visualization techniques to various data analysis tasks including crime (NSF #1737557, http://smartcity.lsu.edu/) and digital curation data.
